A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid will be forced to walk the disciplinary tightrope in the club’s next outing on the continent.
The player in question? Luka Modrić.
Real are of course primed to return to action on Tuesday night, in a Champions League showdown with Italian heavyweights AC Milan.
Captain Modrić, meanwhile, will be expected to play his part in Spain’s capital, be it from the off or from the bench.
As alluded to above, though, in his efforts to guide Los Blancos’ beyond Milan, the 39-year-old will be forced to watch his step throughout.
Modrić has been shown a yellow card in two of Real Madrid’s three European fixtures thus far in 2024/25.
As per UEFA’s rules, one more booking would in turn mean a one-game suspension for the Croatian international.
In the case of being cautioned tomorrow night, Modrić would therefore be ruled out of the Spanish champions’ ensuing Champions League meeting with Liverpool.
