The Oklahoma Sooners just lost one of their biggest pieces in getting players from the transfer portal. Now, before you all start with the “well, all they are getting is Kennesaw State players anyways,” jokes, this is actually a pretty big deal.
The Sooners have lost over a quarter of their team to the transfer portal, as have likely 100 other teams in the country. It’s a part of college football that has completely changed the way teams do things. Getting players back through the portal was the Sooners’ way of replenishing their roster.
That will now get harder.
Sooners lose assistant general manager
The Sooners have already had to replace their offensive coordinator, and that’s when they landed Ben Arbuckle. Then, defensive coordinator Zac Alley left for West Virginia, to have pretty much the same role but with a little more freedom. And we know about the linebackers coach, too.
But now, there is another position that the Sooners will have to replace.
According to Matt Zenitz, the Sooners are losing the assistant general manager, a guy who is very responsible for the transfer portal, to West Virginia. Chuck Lillie is a very important piece to the Sooners, and now he will have to be replaced.
