Former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jay Jackson doesn’t appear to be coming back to the franchise anytime soon.
Jackson recently spoke to CityNews’ Lindsay Dunn about his book 9 Innings to Living Your Best Life, a recent work he’d penned about the power of a positive mindset.
And while sharing a clip from the interview and thanking Dunn for her work, the 37-year-old reliever said that he isn’t exactly anticipating a return to the franchise he played one season for in 2023.
“I wish I could say I was coming back to the 6 but @BlueJays said they had no interest and I respect it,” Jackson said in the tweet. “Still all love!”
Jackson had an ERA of 2.12 and 27 strikeouts in 25 appearances with the Blue Jays. He has played for six teams in his MLB career, most recently suiting up for the Minnesota Twins in 2024. He remains a free agent.
The book focuses less on baseball and more on Jackson’s approach to life, as he’s been known throughout his career for pretty much always having a smile on his face.

Jackson had a tumultuous season off the field in his lone year in Toronto, though it was largely unrelated to his performance off the field.
His partner Sam gave birth to a premature son named JR 15 weeks before his due date. Jackson flew back and forth to Utah mid-season several times to see his family at a medical centre there, where he spent much of the first six months of his life before being released.
