The Las Vegas Raiders dropped to 2-6 on Sunday after a frustrating 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, as the team made multiple untimely mistakes and has little hope for the rest of the year.
Las Vegas is now the lone team in the AFC West with a losing record and is tied for the second-worst record in the AFC. The Raiders extended their losing streak to four and have dropped five of their last six games after starting 1-1.
One of the primary reasons for Las Vegas’ defeat on Sunday and underwhelming season has been the incompetence of head coach Antonio Pierce and offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. The duo hasn’t lived up to modest expectations, and it was on full display in Week 8.
Pierce’s clock management has been horrid this season, and those woes continued on Sunday. The first-year head coach used all of his timeouts on Kansas City’s final touchdown drive and failed to put his offense in a comfortable situation late in the fourth quarter.
Luke Getsy wasn’t much better, as the first-year offensive coordinator was too conservative at the end of the first half and in goal-line situations. Getsy also failed to get his playmakers involved, especially superstar rookie tight end Brock Bowers, who had just five targets.
