The incredible Tiger Woods exchange with forgetful security at The Open revealed as golf icon thinks on his feet

Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods remains arguably the most recognised golfer in modern-day history.

But for one security guard on duty at an Open Championship, he clearly wasn’t up to speed on the USA superstar in a brilliant exchange recaptured by PGA tour golfer Michael Kim. The 152nd Open at Royal Troon gets underway on Thursday and in the build up to the action getting underway, Kim revealed the tale and the big flex involved from Woods after forgetting his credentials.

Writing on X, the pro golfer wrote: “At the Open Championship, players get a clip as credentials to get you into the locker room and everywhere else. Mid 2000s, Tiger forgot his clip one day, and he was walking into the locker room when the security person stopped him asking for his credentials, lol. Tiger looks around, sees a massive billboard with his name and face on it, points to it, says that’s my credentials and walked into the locker room.”
