Tottenham express interest in signing Premier League box-crasher from top-6 rivals

According to a report from The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring the situation of Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

Scott McTominay came close to joining West Ham United last summer, with former Hammers boss David Moyes confirming his interest in the player. However, talks collapsed and the central midfielder remained at Old Trafford, where he went on to enjoy a highly productive campaign.

The Scotland international bagged 10 goals and three assists in 43 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils in the 2023/24 campaign. He scored some valuable goals in Manchester United’s victories over Brentford, Chelsea and Wolves. Being an experienced member of the squad and also a valuable option in the middle, Erik ten Hag is keen to keep hold of McTominay.

This has Tottenham Hotspur a window to enter the race for McTominay, who was a part of Scotland’s squad at the recently concluded Euro 2024 in Germany. The Lilywhites’ failure to land Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has resulted in the Man United star emerging as an option, with the report adding that Ange Postecoglou is a fan of the player and thinks he could add a different dimension to his midfield unit.

Spurs are planning to offload Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso this summer—both have entered the final year of their contracts. Interestingly, Fulham are preparing to table an offer for Hojbjerg after seeing their bid for McTominay rejected by Man United. Lo Celso is out of favour at the club and is likely to depart after five years at N17
