Tottenham Hotspur's 'very brave' defensive target backed to sign a new contract with current employers in an unexpected twist in the transfer

Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to sign a central defender in the ongoing summer transfer window, and Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite has been one of the names linked with a move to White Hart Lane.

Jarrad Branthwaite boasts ample suitors to his signatures, with the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, and Manchester United expressing interest in landing the one-cap England international this summer. Arsenal legend Ian Wright labelled him as ‘very brave’.

Spurs have been in the transfer market to sign a new central defender this summer because of the problems Ange Postecoglou faced in the position last season. The Spurs boss had to make do with playing full-backs in a filler role at the heart of the defence as the club lacked depth in CB options. The Australian boss will not be looking to walk into another season with similar problems as he looks to add a CB to his roster this off-season.
