Tyler Guyton assesses Week 1 performance against Myles Garrett

Tyler Guyton was certainly welcomed to the NFL in spectacular fashion. His Week 1 assignment was going up against reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett. Some of the best left tackles in football struggle going up against Garrett, let alone Guyton playing in his first game.

After having some time to reflect, Guyton was asked to assess his performance on Sunday. The Dallas Cowboys rookie did not sound too pleased with himself. Playing in Cleveland certainly did not help but Guyton felt as if better results could have been produced.

“Poorly. The situation is against a good player like that on the road couldn’t even hear the (calls). Odds were against me. I don’t think it was terrible. I felt like I could have been a lot better,” Guyton said on Thursday evening via Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News.

Garrett finished with one sack of Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott, also causing a fumble. However, that was the only time he had a hit on Prescott, something most Cowboy fans would likely consider a success. Mike McCarthy did do a good job of moving the pocket and moving the play away from Garrett, especially when he lined up against Guyton.
