Novak Djokovic has arrived in China, where he will play the Shanghai Rolex Masters, the first tournament after the US Open and after the Davis Cup. The Serbian has already been in China for a few days and has taken part in various advertising events with his sponsors. The 24-time Slam champion has won this tournament 4 times and has chosen the ATP Masters 1000 in Shanghai as his only stop on the Asian tour, when in the past he had also played in Beijing.
And on the central court in Shanghai, Nole trained with one of the local idols, Zhizhen Zhang, with a good crowd in the stands to follow this training session. The 24-time Grand Slam champion was drawn in the bottom half of the draw with Alexander Zverev and will play his debut against the winner of the match between Michelsen and the surprising home player Bu who did so well this week in Beijing, to the point of reaching the semifinals where he was defeated by Jannik Sinner.
Below you can see the video of Djokovic’s arrival at the Shanghai facility and a phase of training with Zhang.
After the Olympic success in Paris that gave him that one success that was missing in his amazing career, Nole played a US Open in which he was eliminated in the third round by Alexei Popyrin, before catapulting himself into the Davis Cup.
Obviously here in Shanghai there are great expectations surrounding the Serbian champion, considering how a few weeks ago he said that his priorities at this stage of his career are the Majors and the matches he plays for Serbia.
At this moment, Djokovic is not even sure of being present in Turin at the ATP Finals because he is not among the top 8 players in the world in the Race. The 24-time Slam champion has made it known that this is not a priority for him: his schedule from now until the end of the year includes, barring changes, only the exhibition in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia which obviously does not give ATP points and is scheduled immediately after the end of the Shanghai tournament and the Rolex Paris Masters.
