Wrexham predicted XI, team and injury news as Phil Parkinson faces defensive dilemma against Stevenage

Posted on October 1, 2024 by admin

Wrexham are back in action on Tuesday night as Phil Parkinson takes his side on the road once again, this time visiting Stevenage in League One.

Phil Parkinson saw his Wrexham side pick up a point on the road over the weekend, drawing 0-0 against Leyton Orient.

If you ask Orient boss Richie Wellens, Wrexham were lucky to leave London with a share of the spoils.

Parkinson won’t be complaining though and Wrexham could have even won it as a late scramble saw the ball go wide.

A point away from home is never something to grumble about and Wrexham are looking for another result away form the STōK Cae Ras tonight.

Wrexham head down to Hertfordshire to take on Stevenage, just days after their 1-0 home win over Charlton Athletic.

Wrexham predicted lineup v Stevenage

Parkinson faces some big decisions with his lineup but we can surely expect to see Arthur Okonkwo in goal once again.

Okonkwo was suffering with an illness before facing Leyton Orient but dragged himself through the game admirably.

Okonkwo should be fine to start against Stevenage too, barring any late setbacks, but Parkinson has a big call to make in defence.

Max Cleworth picked up an injury against Orient and is unlikely to be involved against Stevenage.

We think Lewis Brunt should be in the mix for a start but Parkinson may be tempted to go with the safe hand in the more experienced Dan Scarr.

That could see Eoghan O’Connell shift across to the right side of the back three with Thomas O’Connor on the left side.

Ryan Barnett poses a threat up the right flank and should start again whilst captain James McClean will be looking for another start.

Sebastian Revan will be ready to step up if McClean is rested, such is the strength of this Wrexham squad.

George Evans impressed off the bench against Orient and may be primed to start in midfield alongside George Dobson and Elliot Lee.

Andy Cannon offers plenty of energy in the middle of the park but Evans helped bring some control against Orient and impressed Parkinson in the process.

Jack Marriott started at the weekend but some fans have called for him to feature alongside Paul Mullin in attack, rather than chop and change them.

That temptation may be there for Parkinson but the tried-and-tested partnership of Mullin and Ollie Palmer may be a little more likely this time.

Luke Bolton looks set to miss out again through injury and Parkinson will no doubt be assessing players for late illnesses after Okonkwo’s bout just a few days ago.

Wrexham predicted starting XI v Stevenage: Okonkwo; O’Connell, Scarr, O’Connor; Barnett, Evans, Dobson, Lee, McClean; Mullin, Palmer.
