The New York Yankees already have made a handful of additions, and there is plenty of time left in the offseason to add even more.

New York has had a lot to do after Juan Soto decided to leave the organization to sign with the cross-town rival New York Mets. The Yankees have made a handful of additions including Max Fried, Devin Williams, Paul Goldschmidt, and Cody Bellinger.

There is time to make more additions, and there surely will be some former members of the Yankees who also will end up playing elsewhere.

Former Yankees All-Star Gleyber Torres reportedly landed with the Detroit Tigers on Friday but he won’t be the only former Yankee to leave.

FanSided’s Zachary Rotman made a list of three players who could end up leaving like Torres and mentioned former New York first baseman Anthony Rizzo.

“Speaking of Yankees who have been replaced, Anthony Rizzo’s spot was taken by Paul Goldschmidt when he signed a one-year deal to come to the Bronx,” Rotman said. “While we can quibble about whether Goldschmidt was the right player to bring in or not, he certainly is an upgrade over Rizzo who is nowhere near the star he once was.

“Rizzo slashed .228/.301/.335 with only eight home runs in 92 regular season games, and while he did hit for a respectable .267 average in the postseason, he had just one extra-base hit (a double) in October. Rizzo hasn’t hit a home run since mid-June. He has just three home runs since the end of April. Even if Goldschmidt is nothing more than a league-average hitter and defender at this point, he’d be an upgrade over Rizzo.”

This wouldn’t be a shock. Rizzo will find an opportunity elsewhere. Hopefully, he can get back on track.
