Cowboys News: Amari nearly traded back to NFC rival, Quinn trying Micah 2.0 in Washington

Posted on August 10, 2024 by admin

Thursday’s joint practice between the Cowboys and Rams didn’t provide much in the way of fireworks, but it seems the ‘Boys were just saving it for Friday. The last day of the work week saw the fanbase ride a tidal wave of emotion as early indications of a Dak Prescott contract signing quickly turned into another scare about his surgically repaired ankle. If that weren’t enough, Stephen Jones had things to say about CeeDee Lamb’s future after his dad started a firestorm the day prior, and the Cowboys pulled off a trade just before the weekend by shipping out one of the more disappointing draft picks in recent years.

Elsewhere, Amari Cooper just missed getting sent back to the NFC to one of Dallas’s big rivals; we’ll tell you what soured the deal. And Dan Quinn looks to be back in the lab, trying to concoct a Micah Parsons Version 2.0 in Washington. In-house, Brandin Cooks is quietly having a terrific camp and may be about to explode, we’re looking for clues as to how John Fassel is going to staff the kickoff coverage unit this year, and the Rams aren’t tipping their hand about how involved their exciting rookies will be on Sunday. All that, plus revisiting the long and painful road from Aikman to Romo, we get to know the newest Cowboys cornerback, and why the annual Turkey Day game at AT&T may not be hottest ticket in Texas this football season. Here’s all the News and Notes.
