Georgia Bulldogs’ 2025 four-star quarterback commit Ryan Montgomery will miss the remainder of his 2024 senior year after suffering an ACL injury in his first high school football game of the season on Friday night.
The Findlay quarterback star was not even five minutes into the game before he went down with the injury against Toledo Central Catholic and was carted off of the field.
On Monday afternoon, Montgomery took to Twitter/X to announce his injury and shared a message to both his local Finlay and Georgia fans:
“I am heartbroken to announce I will miss the rest of my Senior football season with my teammates and coaches due to an ACL injury that requires surgery. To my teammates- enjoy every minute! Know that I will do whatever I can coaching wise to assist this season. To my coaches- thanks for everything you have done for me.
Thanks to the entire Findlay community for all the support. God has a plan for me and I know he is just strengthening my faith. I am going to continue to just trust in the Lord as he will always have my back. I look forward to a full recovery and the next chapter of my life at The University of Georgia. Gods got me.”
Montgomery was expected to build on to his thrilling 2023 season in which he completed 228 of his 333 pass attempts for 3,018 yards and 35 touchdowns, breaking Ben Roethlisberger’s single-game yardage record from 2000 along the way.
He is the No. 9 overall quarterback in the class of 2025 and sits 111th nationally, according to the 247Sports. He’s also listed as the seventh-best prospect in the state of Ohio.
