Kelce Bros Roast Blake Lively’s ‘Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ Run

Jason and Travis Kelce Poke Fun at How Blake Lively Runs in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Jason and Travis Kelce made friend Blake Lively the butt of their jokes after watching Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants for the first time.

The siblings summed up their thoughts on the 2005 film while officially kicking off their “New Heights” movie club in a bonus episode of their podcast released Thursday, October 17, via Wondery+. Travis, 35, teased that it would be the last time fans would be allowed to choose what movie they’d watch.

“Not a bad film,” Jason, 36, added. “It’s hard to relate … [but] surprising level of acting, I thought, for the film. It was well done.”

Jason also admitted that he was somewhat “upset” that the pants didn’t play a bigger role in the plot. “I didn’t feel like they did a damn thing … and then [my wife] Kylie’s like, ‘You idiot, it’s a symbol that their friends are always with them,'” he said. “And I was like, ‘Oh, OK. That makes sense.'”

‘Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ Cast: Where Are They Now?

Initial thoughts aside, the brothers broke down each of the characters’ arcs. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants stars Lively, now 37, Alexis Bledel, Amber Tamblyn and America Ferrera as best friends Bridget, Lena, Tibby and Carmen, respectively, who stay connected through a pair of pants that they share during a summer apart.

While both Jason and Travis were impressed with Lively’s “wonderful” performance in the film – Travis even joked that he “might have been a little biased” toward his girlfriend Taylor Swift‘s BFF – the duo couldn’t resist laughing at some of her scenes.

“A lot of the movie is just Bridget running,” Jason said. “I gotta admit, not the best run. Blake, I love you, it does not strike me as a star athlete run.”

Travis laughed before adding, “She has good endurance, though, because running like that and to be talking? I would be f-ing gassed and would be way worse at trying to spit my lines out if I was running while talking.”

Jason agreed that it was an “impressive” feat, teasing, “She runs so far she ends up at a soccer camp in Mexico. Which, by the way, not a chance in hell that [my daughter] Wyatt is gonna be at a soccer camp in Mexico at 17 years old.”

The father of three even claimed Bridget had the “saddest story” of all the characters, calling her love interest and coach Eric (Mike Vogel) the biggest villain in the film. “He’s about as evil as it gets,” Jason said. “He literally tells her, ‘When you turn 20 years old, give me a call.’ What are we doing? … I felt terrible for Bridget, she got taken advantage of.”

America Ferrera FaceTimed ‘Sisterhood’ Costars After Her Oscars Nomination

Travis and Jason both agreed that Lena’s story line was the most fun, comparing her romance with Greek hunk Kostas (Michael Rady) to that of Romeo and Juliet. Tibby’s connection with young cancer patient Bailey (Jenna Boyd) was “easily the most gut wrenching” for the brothers to watch, and they appreciated Carmen’s “feistiness.”

Jason acknowledged that he “teared up” at some points in the movie, including a moment between Lena and her grandfather and a scene involving Bailey. “I wasn’t full crying,” he insisted. “I don’t think other people knew I was crying, but I knew.”

Thursday’s episode marked the first in the Kelce brothers’ movie club series, which they announced earlier this month. Jason previously shared his skeptical thoughts about Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

“I was out after it said ‘sisterhood,’ and got even more out when it said ‘of the traveling pants,'” he joked during the October 2 episode of their podcast. “There’s multiple things I’m not interested in about this movie in just the title alone.”

Jason further teased that the movie suggestions were overrun by “chick flicks” thanks to Swift’s fan base, adding, “We’ve got a lot of Swifties trying to make us watch bad movies. … At least Twilight had vampires.”
