Latest News: Commanders Face Tough Tests In Late-Season Playoff Push

Posted on December 8, 2024 by admin

One of the Washington Commanders’ biggest strengths this season has been the rushing attack led by Brian Robison Jr., Austin Ekeler, Jeremy McNichols, and Chris Rodriguez Jr.

Plus, we can add Jayden Daniels to the mix, too, with Washington having one of the best ground games in football, averaging 156.9 yards per game (ranks third), but is Kliff Kingsbury’s go-to area of the offense set to be under serious pressure in the remaining five games? We think so.

Ekeler has been placed on injured reserve due to his concussion symptoms, which include neck pain, plus Robinson Jr. has been in and out of the team dealing with several issues.

So CBS Sports thinks it could be down to Rodriguez Jr. with the help of Robinson Jr. to get the run game going.

“Austin Ekeler is on the injured reserve and Brian Robinson Jr. has been limited,” CBS Sports writes. “They did get good production out of Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Robinson last week.”

With four games left to go in the regular season before the Commanders likely venture into playoff football, getting the run game established and getting players healthy is going to be crucial for Dan Quinn’s team.

We have seen what the offense looks like when the ground game doesn’t work, as Washington has been held under 100 rushing yards three times, and ironically, the Commanders lost all three games.

So it might be Rodriguez Jr. who had 94 yards and a touchdown in the 42-19 win over the Tennessee Titans to help Robinson Jr. keep things ticking over.

If the Commanders are to amount to anything this season, it’s going to be because of the rushing attack, which the offense desperately needs to find its groove in the final month of the season.
