Matty Cash looks increasingly unlikely to join AC Milan this summer.
That is the word of Calcio Mercato, who explain that now the Premier League’s PSR deadline for 2023/24 has passed and Villa have raised funds from other sales, they will seek to earn their full asking price of €35-40m (£29.6-33.8m) for the Poland international. This is reportedly out of the affordability range for the Italian club.
Villa boosted their PSR compliance as the €50m (£42.3m) sale of Douglas Luiz to Juventus went through as expected. This followed on from Tim Iroegbunam’s switch to Everton a week earlier, which saw the club pocket £9m.
Cash will reportedly, therefore, have to move to another club, or he will remain a Villa player. Only two weeks ago was he named by the same Italian publication as Milan’s preference, however this latest update states that their full attention will be forced to move onto Tottenham’s Emerson Royal.
It is reported that Royal is keen on the move and has already engaged in talks with Milan chiefs, and now they are soon set to approach Spurs to begin official negotiations. It would reportedly be their hope to secure the signing for €17m (£14.3) including bonuses, which is significantly lower than the Brazilian’s €25m (£21.1m) tag.
City rivals Inter Milan also have rumoured interest in Cash as their current option, Denzel Dumfries, has been linked with the switch to Villa Park. The Dutchman has now entered the final 12 months of his contract at the San Siro, where chiefs remain intent on agreeing his renewal.
