Miami Dolphins’ Plan To Get Odell Beckham Jr., Tua Tagovailoa on Same Page Has Already Begun

Posted on October 8, 2024 by admin

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. (3) catches the football before preseason game against the Washington Commanders at Hard Rock Stadium.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Odell Beckham Jr.’s Miami Dolphins debut was a quiet one.

Snoop Huntley targeted Beckham twice in Sunday’s win over the New England Patriots, but misfired on both attempts (including one that resulted in an interception).

But as Beckham and Huntley work to get back on the same page (they were teammates last year in Baltimore), there’s a second goal for the Dolphins’ WR3: Build chemistry with Tua Tagovailoa, who could return to practice in 15 days after a long recovery from his fourth diagnosed concussion.

Beckham has yet to practice with Tagovailoa. Beckham was hurt all summer, and when he finally came off PUP, Tua was on IR.

But Beckham said he and Tagovailoa have thrown on their own and have been comfortable doing so.

“The ball is put where the ball is put,” Beckham said. “You know, my job is to catch it. I’ve known Snoop for a whole year and a half. Before signing I was kind of worried about coming to play with a lefty. It was something I always joked about not doing in my career.

“It’s definitely different,” he continued. “It’s a different spin, it comes at you a different way at times, but as I’ve thrown with him, he throws the ball so nice that it doesn’t really feel like you’re catching from a lefty.

“For me I have the utmost confidence in my hands. I remember dropping one pass last year. I don’t really feel like a ball is just going to get past my hands, where my mind is at, where my body is at. I’ve got way too much confidence in my hands.”

Beckham said he’s “a little sore” after a week of practice and 11 game snaps Sunday. But he expects to get back into football shape in the coming weeks.

When he does, the Dolphins’ offense can really take off. Tagovailoa aside, they’re in pretty good health on that side of the ball
