The Toronto Blue Jays were linked to former Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames. Now that the San Francisco Giants have acquired Adames with a long-term deal, they are forced to turn their focus elsewhere.
Toronto must build its starting rotation and focus on bringing in some offensive power. Adames would have been an excellent fit for the team, but the team was too slow to negotiate a deal.
The Blue Jays have now turned to another superstar to bolster their offense. It’s none other than their AL East Rival’s second baseman, Gleyber Torres. The New York Yankees are not keen on adding Torres to their lineup. This opens the door for many teams, including the Blue Jays.
Signing Torres could help the team offensively. Torres had his highs and lows with the Yanks, but his postseason performance was strong at the plate. Toronto struggled offensively, failing to score runs in big numbers. Torres could also be a light on the pocket. The Blue Jays can experiment with Torres for a few years to try him out.
