Ole Miss extends contract of softball coach Jamie Trachsel

Posted on September 3, 2024 by admin

After reaching the NCAA Tournament in all four seasons of her tenure, Ole Miss and head softball coach Jamie Trachsel have agreed on a contract extension, as announced by Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Keith Carter on Friday.

Trachsel’s contract extension will take her through the 2028 season.

“Since arriving on campus, Coach Trachsel has established Ole Miss Softball as a perennial postseason team,” Carter said. “She has strived for excellence in all areas of the program and is constantly assessing her staff and operation in order to advance it to the next level. As we open our brand new stadium this spring, we are excited to see the trajectory of our talent, environment and overall success under Coach Trachsel’s leadership.”

“I am proud to accept this contract extension through 2028, and I am very grateful to Chancellor Boyce, Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Keith Carter, and Executive Associate Athletic Director Shannon Singletary for their continued belief and support of our program,” said Trachsel. “This commitment reflects my belief in the leadership of our administration and their support of our vision. I am extremely excited about this next chapter here at Ole Miss and the energy surrounding our program with the addition of our new staff, completion of our new stadium, and the commitment of our current and future athletes and their families.

Hired in 2020, coach Trachsel has led the Rebels to four consecutive NCAA regional final appearances and tallied 140 wins in her four-year career at the helm. In 2023, Trachsel became the fastest coach to 100 wins in program history, doing so in just 159 games.

Trachsel and the Rebels recorded six ranked victories in 2024, headlined by series wins over then No. 2 LSU and No. 8 Arkansas. The timely wins and going 5-2 in the final seven games of the regular season, propelled the Rebels back to the national stage for an eighth consecutive season.

Under coach Trachsel’s guidance, the Rebels had multiple student-athletes earn NFCA All-South Region honors for just the fifth time in program history and the second time under Trachsel. Entering her 15th season as a collegiate head coach, Trachsel stands at 486 wins, earning success at each institution she has led.
