Posted on July 23, 2024 by admin

PHILADELPHIA – JULY 22, 2024 – Philadelphia 76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey announced today that the team has signed David Jones to a two-way contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A native of the Dominican Republic, Jones spent the 2023-24 season at the University of Memphis where he ranked sixth among all Division I players in scoring at 21.8 points per contest. He shot 45.9-percent from the field – including a 38.0-percent mark from three-point range on more than six attempts per game – in addition to averaging 7.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 2.2 steals in 32 games (all starts).

An All-AAC First Team selection, Jones became the first player in NCAA Men’s DI competition to average at least 21.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals over a full season since Zion Williamson in 2018-19.

Prior to his lone collegiate season at Memphis, Jones played for St. John’s in 2022-23 and was the team’s second-leading scorer (13.2 ppg) while drilling a team-best 42 triples. He spent his first two collegiate campaigns at DePaul, averaging 12.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.4 steals in 37 games (28 starts) from 2020-22.

Jones appeared in seven games with the 76ers between the Salt Lake City Summer League and the NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas, averaging 9.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per contest.

He capped off his summer action with team highs in points (23 on 9-15 FG), rebounds (eight), and blocked shots (three) in the team’s final contest against Boston on Sunday.
