Bryan King believes Tottenham would be better off without Richarlison.
The ex-Spurs scout doesn’t understand why the club are not pursuing a deal for Brentford striker Ivan Toney.
As reported by Football London (24 June), Spurs are unlikely to complete a move for Toney as they eye up younger options in the number nine position.
And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels that this is not the correct decision.
“Why? One minute they’re interested in a player of that nature and now suddenly they’re not,” King said.
“What Tottenham need is a proven goalscorer. How are they going to get a proven goalscorer if they sign a young player?
“They need a player like Toney because their main problem is the number nine position. Are they going to sell Richarlison or are they going to keep him?
“I’ve said all along that Spurs would be better off without Richarlison, and Richarlison would be better off without Spurs.”

Richarlison hasn’t been Spurs’ most consistent performer since arriving in a big-money deal from Everton.
He went on an impressive scoring run midway through last season and ended the 2023/24 campaign with 11 Premier League goals.
However, he has yet to justify the decision to sign him, and supporters will now be wondering if he will be the club’s starting striker next season.
