Simone Biles to throw out first pitch at Friday’s Houston Astros game
The 11-time Olympic medalist will be among the Olympic athletes honored before Friday’s matchup with the Kansas City Royals.
Houston’s Simone Biles is continuing her whirlwind summer tour after taking home four medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics earlier this month.
Biles was seen supporting her husband, former Houston Texans safety Jonathan Owens, on the sidelines at a Chicago Bears preseason game a few weeks ago. Now she’s returning to the Lone Star State to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Friday’s Astros’ game against the Kansas City Royals.
The 11-time Olympic medalist is just one of the Houston athletes who will be honored before Friday’s game. However, Biles will have the distinction of tossing the ceremonial first pitch—an honor she’s performed before in 2016 and 2019. The franchise is selling $7 tickets to Friday’s game, with the first 10,000 fans through the doors receiving an Astros Players and Dogs calendar.
Biles continues to have one of the best summers of anyone on planet Earth in 2024. The Spring, Texas native won three golds and a silver in Paris to become the most decorated U.S. Olympic gymnast of all time. She’s also having a blast on social media, calling out night clubs for attempting to foist $26,000 champagne bottles onto her tab and sending not-so-veiled shots at a former-teammate-turned-enemy.
As for the Astros, they’re enjoying a strong run of their own. Houston sits top the AL West as the postseason looms and will be looking to avenge a three-game sweep suffered against the Royals hands back in April. First pitch from Minute Maid Park Friday is slated for 7:10 p.m CT.
